Project: Gipsy Road, London
Architect: CDMS Architects
This project resulted in the development of a site previously occupied by an old warehouse, into residential flats over retail space and car park areas at ground floor.
vkhp-consulting were appointed to design the underground drainage and the structure for the new scheme. The underground drainage involved a public sewer diversion that had to be carefully coordinated with the new piled foundations, within the site's tight footprint.
The main structural frame of the building consists of reinforced concrete transfer slabs at each level. This concept fitted well with the architectural design of the building, which steps back on two sides, offering the Architect full flexibility with the location of vertical load members such as columns.
