Project: Kinetrol, Farnham
This project involved the construction of a new warehouse unit in Farnham, where vkhp-consulting were appointed to carry out the design and specification of the new foundations, ground works, underground drainage and external paving details.
The client's brief indicated requirements for the ground floor to support heavy plant loading, such as large die cast press plants. Therefore, the design of the new ground bearing floor slab was carried out following the Concrete Society's recommendations outlined in TR34. A granular sub-base 1m deep was specified to replace the original made ground.
The foundations under the steel frame stanchions consist of reinforced concrete pad foundations, designed to support the vertical loads and overturning moments from fire loading cases.
